Chromaticism

You will need to revise the names of the notes in the Treble Clef if you are unsure. The notes in the spaces are F A C E and the notes on the lines are E G B D F .

Intervals

An interval is two notes sounding together.

If notes sound good together this is Harmony

If notes sound bad together this is Discord

Some intervals sound Bare (neither harmony nor discord)

Chromatic means 'all the colours' or 'using all the notes' in Music. On the keyboard this means using the black notes as well as the white notes. The black notes are called Sharps and Flats. 'Sharp' means 'up a little' and 'Flat' means 'down a little'. Each black note has two names (F sharp is the same as G flat, because up a little from F is the same as down a little from G, and so on)

Two diferrent examples of music that uses the chromatic scale are :

Preludes a L'Apres Midi d'une Faune by Claude Debussy

The Sabre Dance by Khatchaturian
