KS4 Levels
In Years 10 and 11 you will follow the London Examining Board Syllabus, leading
to a GCSE (Short Course) qualification. This is a full GCSE with half the content.
You will be studying 5 modules as part of your R.E. course: Matters of Life
and Death, Marriage and Family Life, Social Harmony, Belief in God and Religion
and the Media.
Here is a description of how you could achieve one of three GCSE grades.
Grade E
When you are asked to recall knowledge you can give an isolated fact or reason,
or a simple statement.
When you are asked why a person thinks or acts in a particular way you can
give simple reason and show some understanding.
When you are asked to evaluate different responses to religious and moral
issues you can give an opinion with one simple piece of evidence.
Grade C
When you are asked to recall knowledge you can give two valid facts or one
developed reason.
When you are asked why a person thinks or acts in a particular way your description
shows a basic understanding and you express yourself in a structured way.
When you are asked to evaluate different responses to religious and moral
issues you can consider arguments 'for and against' and give an opinion with
reasons.
Grade A
When you are asked to recall knowledge you can use specialist vocabulary,
provide relevant knowledge and you show an understanding of the main ideas.
When you are asked why a person thinks or acts in a particular way you can
give a coherent explanation that shows a clear understanding and you use specialist
vocabulary.
When you are asked to evaluate different responses to religious and moral
issues you show evidence of religious or moral reasoning in support of an
opinion.
